Do you track people off-site?

No. Presence is only updated when a tag is detected by an OnSight gateway within a defined site zone. Off-site time is not monitored or stored.

Is GPS used?

No personal GPS trails are generated. Zone presence is derived from short-range Bluetooth detection events.

How accurate is zone detection?

Typical practical zone granularity is a room, doorway, or muster point area. Edge filtering reduces flicker and false transitions.

What data is stored?

OnSight's staff safety monitoring focuses on passive, privacy-conscious presence awareness rather than intrusive continuous GPS tracking. Using small Bluetooth beacons or tags and fixed or mobile gateways, the platform detects when people are within defined zones (work areas, muster points, high-risk zones) and updates their presence status in real-time. No personal location trail is recorded outside the instrumented environment—once someone leaves site coverage they simply show as "not present" rather than being followed. This approach gives operations teams the visibility they need for accountability, faster muster/roll calls, and compliance—without creating a perception of constant surveillance.

How Passive Presence Works

Each worker is associated with a lightweight Bluetooth tag or a compatible smart device. Fixed OnSight gateways (and optionally mobile gateway devices) detect these tags when they enter defined zones (e.g. site boundary, processing hall, cold store, muster point). The platform updates presence states—on site, in zone, at muster, or not detected—without creating continuous personal movement trails.
