The challenge

Apple exports to Japan require calibrated sensors and 25 days of continuous temperature monitoring. Freshco had relied on manual checks, which took staff time and made it harder to maintain a complete record.

The solution

Freshco worked with Precision Monitoring to deploy OnSight. The system tracks internal apple temperatures remotely, alerts staff when readings cross set thresholds, and records the data needed to support export compliance. OnSight provided temperature tracking; Freshco remained responsible for managing the cool store temperature.

The setup uses calibrated sensors to meet pre-storage requirements and provides a continuous monitoring record throughout the 25-day period. Temperature data also flows into SNAP Software's packhouse management platform, so staff can use it within their existing workflow.

The result

According to Freshco, automated tracking reduced the need for manual checks and gave staff a central, traceable temperature record for reporting and review. The team can also look back at earlier shipment data when planning storage and exports.
